Journal News – “Yonkers youth art program gets new digs”

YONKERS — The owner of a low-income apartment complex in southwest Yonkers is donating space to the local Dominican Cultural Association’s growing youth arts program.

Peekskill-based Marathon Development Group held a ribbon-cutting Friday at its Jackson Terrace Herriot Street complex office, where the association plans to host twice-weekly art classes for kids ages 6 to 16.

The program has outgrown its longtime former space at nearby St. Peter’s Catholic School. It currently has about 50 students.

“The Dominican Cultural Association art program enriches the lives of children and young adults, and we are honored to be able to provide them with the space they need to grow,” said Marathon spokeswoman Krista Gobins.

Marathon also donates office space at Jackson Terrace for the CLUSTER Community Services “Super School” after-school program.
