Mark Soja

Mark Soja, has more than 20 years experience in developing, managing and financing affordable multi family housing. As President of Marathon Development Group he has successfully completed the repositioning of more than 1,600 apartments, totaling more than $200 million in total project costs.

Marathon Development Group is a full-service real estate development firm with the capability to successfully oversee complex affordable multifamily development projects from initial conception through the acquisition and construction, to the final lease-up and management. Marathon Development Group’s mission and sole business is the development and preservation of affordable housing.

Prior to forming Marathon, Mr. Soja served as Development Manager for a leading developer of affordable housing based in New York. Where he participated in rehabilitation and repositioning of stabilized a formerly troubled 168-unit apartment community, and successfully completed the development of more than 400 units of new rental housing.

Mr. Soja also served as a vice president with an investment bank where he was responsible for the origination and underwriting of tax-exempt bonds to finance affordable multifamily and senior housing.

Mr. Soja is currently affiliated with the New York State Affordable Housing Association and the Institute for Responsible Housing Preservation.
