Katherine Ferri-Balbuena

Katherine Ferri-Balbuena, Marathon’s Controller, is responsible for ensuring all accounting transactions are conducted in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP). She oversees the accounting when recording daily transactions and when preparing monthly and annual financial statements for review by the management team and outside auditors. She is also responsible for financial analysis, oversight of Human Resource functions, profit and loss analysis and dealing with the outside CPA firm.

Ms. Ferri-Balbuena is responsible for the financial analysis and fiscal oversight for all properties in the portfolio. A graduate of PACE University, Ms. Ferri-Balbuena worked at Marks Paneth and Shron, LLP(“MP&S”), as a Supervisor Auditor in the Non-Profit and Government Services Group. Ms. Ferri-Balbuena’s experience included assurance work for various types of non-profit entities including contribution-based, fundraising and membership organizations, private foundations, higher education and special purpose governmental organizations. She performed financial statement and internal control audits for the firm’s non-profit clients. As part of her responsibilities, she prepared financial statements and key deliverables including Whitepapers for significant financial statement items, Comparative Benchmarking and Ratios and Observations and Recommendations Memos. For each audit, Ms. Ferri-Balbuena assisted and supervised multiple staff while providing technical guidance and professional development to her team. Katherine was also a member of MP&S’s Women’s Initiative and was asked to be a panel speaker regarding “Flexible Work Arrangements” and her experience at the firm.
