Peekskill Plaza Apartments

Peekskill Plaza Apartments

Peekskill Plaza Apartments, is comprised of 168 units of senior housing. Located in the heart of historic Peekskill, along the Hudson River in New York, the apartments consist of a seven-story high-rise brick building and three two-story garden apartment style buildings, surrounding a landscaped courtyard.  An ideal location for seniors, Peekskill Plaza is located directly across from the community center, library and City Hall and is walking distance from the Metro North Railroad, Paramount Theater and the all of the eclectic restaurants and shops Peekskill has to offer.

Marathon’s design and construction program for the property included rehabilitating individual apartment units, refurbishing common areas, and included the replacement of all of the original windows and sliding balcony doors with insulated, energy efficient units.  In the design process, Marathon made every effort to make each new component “senior friendly.” Handrails were installed in public corridors, grab bars are included in bathrooms, and all new fixtures are ADA compliant.  Lever handle door hardware is utilized and all new kitchen cabinets are installed at a height for easier reach by the senior residents.

Marathon also updated all life safety systems for the property including installing new smoke detectors, carbon monoxide detectors, and a state-of-the-art security, fire alarm and call-for-help system.
